Work History

Ruth began her career in customer service in 1975. She drove a Bus for the Douglas County School System for 3 years then began a long career with the 

United States Postal Service. She is a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church and is a Certified Lay Leader and Lay Speaker.

Volunteer and Community Work

Ruth has been involved with rebuilding teams during 3 National Disasters. Hurricane Opal in 1995, Hurricane Rita in 2005 and was recognized as a leader in her community during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She was asked to organize and implement a giveaway program for individuals and families displaced from New Orleans, Louisiana. This program provided much needed clothing, food and phone cards.

On average 500 people were seen per day, 7 days a week for 1 year. Approximately 182,500 people were helped because of this program.

Ruth’s ability to influence and affect change in her work place and in her community prepares her for the position of Secretary of

Ada’s Table, Inc.

Retired after 15 years with the United States Postal Service and Lay Speaker and Lay Leader for New Covenant United Methodist Church as well as Manager of Church Kitchen since 2002. With a commitment to volunteer work since 1995,

Ruth is respected in this community.

Dude Share the Food – Local food distributor – consisted of a group of concerned citizens creating sack lunches to feed the homeless.
